What makes the variety of CB blackberries special
There are over 100 varieties of blackberries and over 1000 hybrid varieties, but CB is currently counting on 3 varieties:
Chester Thornless – is a semi-aromatic variety of blackberry without barks, of high productivity, suitable for the weather conditions of our country – resistant to foliar diseases and to the cold. The fruits are medium, with a special taste and flavour.
Thornfree – is a kind of blackberry without barks, with extremely high productivity and ideal for growing on the Romanian territory. It is very resistant to frost, diseases and pests and does not require high maintenance costs. It is recognizable thanks to the size of the fruits, a single blackberry fruit reaching a weight of 6 grams. The taste is aromatic, sweet-sour.
Loch ness – is an early variety of barberry without barks, native from Scotland, with high productivity. The fruits are glossy, firm, and very tasty. It is a variety resistant to very low temperatures.
One cup of blackberries (about 150g) contains:
Carbohydrate: 13.8 g.
Fiber: 7.6 g.
Despite the fact that the cup of blackberries contains 7g of sugar, these fruits have a low glycemic index which makes them suitable for moderate consumption by diabetics.
